Back to CoBuildersCommunity guidelines

Build boldly. Share generously. Respect always.

The small set of standards that protects trust, focus, belonging, and momentum across the CoBuilders community.

In plain language

01Everyone belongs here without harassment or discrimination.

02Shared focus, privacy, and consent are worth protecting.

03Raise concerns early; retaliation is never acceptable.

01

What we are building

CoBuilders is a place for focused work, generous exchange, and meaningful progress. These guidelines apply in the workspace, at CoBuilders events, in member WhatsApp groups and digital channels, and whenever you represent the community.

They apply to members, guests, visitors, staff, speakers, partners, and event participants.

02

Respect every person

Treat people with dignity. Harassment, intimidation, threats, unwanted sexual attention, stalking, bullying, discriminatory conduct, deliberate misgendering, or demeaning comments are not welcome.

Respect personal boundaries and consent. A “no,” a lack of response, or a request for space is enough. Do not photograph, record, tag, or publish identifiable people without their permission.

03

Protect shared focus

Take calls in designated areas, use headphones, keep conversation at a considerate volume, and move longer discussions into suitable rooms. Join meetings prepared, start and finish room bookings on time, and reset shared spaces when you leave.

Events and collaboration are part of CoBuilders, but so is deep work. Staff may ask you to move or lower the volume when one activity is affecting another.

04

Give before you take

Share knowledge and introductions thoughtfully. Credit other people’s ideas. Ask before adding someone to a mailing list, group, pitch, or project. Feedback should be specific, constructive, and offered with care.

Networking is welcome; pressure is not. Do not spam members, scrape contact details, repeatedly solicit people who are not interested, or use community access primarily to extract leads.

05

Keep trust and confidences

Work around you may be sensitive. Do not read another person’s screen, open their belongings, share private conversations, or disclose confidential business or personal information. Use only your own account and access credential.

What someone shares in confidence, a private member channel, or a closed session stays there unless they clearly agree otherwise.

06

Care for the space

Use equipment for its intended purpose, report damage or hazards promptly, and follow staff instructions and safety signage. Keep exits and access routes clear. Smoking, illegal substances, weapons, dangerous materials, and unlawful activity are prohibited.

Members are responsible for their approved guests. Food, events, equipment moves, decorations, and commercial filming may require advance approval.

07

Speak up early

If something feels unsafe or violates these guidelines, speak to a CoBuilders team member, email lcemorocco@alxafrica.com, or contact the official WhatsApp number. In an immediate emergency, contact local emergency services first.

Share what happened, when and where it occurred, who was involved, and any supporting information you feel comfortable providing. Reports are handled as discreetly as reasonably possible, although information may need to be shared to investigate, protect people, or comply with law.

08

How we respond

Our response will reflect the seriousness, context, and pattern of the behaviour. It may include a private conversation, reminder, facilitated resolution, warning, removal from an event or channel, guest restriction, temporary suspension, or termination of access or membership.

Retaliation against someone who raises a concern in good faith or helps with a review is itself a violation. Deliberately false or malicious reports are also unacceptable. CoBuilders may act immediately when safety or serious harm is at risk.
